On January 31st, Cândido de Oliveira Martins, lecturer in Portuguese Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University - Braga, presented the book Contos Camilianos at the Sintra Municipal Library.
Coordinated by Cristina Sobral and Serafina Martins, and with a preface by Cândido Oliveira Martins, the book Contos Camilianos brings together five short stories by many other authors inspired by Camilo's life and work - A. M. Pires Cabral, Ana Margarida de Carvalho, Mário Cláudio, Nardo Leandro and Teresa Martins Marques. This publication is part of a wide range of publications and other initiatives marking the Bicentenary of the Birth of Camilo Castelo Branco (1825-2025).
The session was part of a Camillian day organized by the Camilo Castelo Branco Chair, a partnership between the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon and the Municipality of Sintra. The event was attended by various Camillian specialists and writers, and was entitled “A Day with Camilo” and closed by the Mayor of Sintra, Dr. Basílio Horta, and the Director of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, Prof. Dr. Hermenegildo Fernandes.
