Books and Jesuits

Thursday, May 11, 2023 - 10:09

The Voluntaria*te team from the Catholic University of Braga is organizing the “Livros & Jesuítas” initiative. Through an informal model, the main objective is that the academic community be encouraged to read, intending that it be a contribution to the qualification, creativity and innovation of all of us.

We therefore invite the entire academic community to read the book “The man who saw in the dark”, a portrait of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. This small book is a portrait of Bruno Candé, the first person in Portugal whose death resulted in a conviction for a crime motivated by racial hatred. Candé, 39 years old, actor, from Lisbon, father of three children, died of racism: a word he didn't believe in. He, a man who saw in the dark, beyond the stigmas of poverty and racial discrimination.

The meeting will take place on the 23rd of May, at 5.30 pm in the library of the Catholic University.

We count on your disclosure, reading and presence.

What Voluntaria*te wants is to train readers for life!
