The aim of this curricular unit is for students to:
- Deepen their knowledge of the field of study of Gerontopsychology;
- Deepen fundamental knowledge for a global understanding of the normal and pathological process of human aging;
- Know and reflect on attitudes, myths and stereotypes about older adults and ageing and their implications;
- Understand the complexity of the phenomenon of violence against older adults and acquire multidisciplinary and multisectoral assessment and intervention skills;
- Deepen their knowledge of the most prevalent mental illnesses in older adults;
- Develop and consolidate assessment skills with older adults and their caregivers and intervention skills with them, which are humanized, in accordance with ethical and deontological principles, and promote a better quality of life.
