Following the meeting “Dialogues of April: 50 years on”, the “25 de Abril: Towards the 50th Anniversary Exhibition” is on display at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga. The exhibition is free to visit and is recommended in the spirit of the commemorations of the April Revolution.
This exhibition is made up of a dozen large illustrative and informative panels, the contents of which cover a wide range of topics: the political regimes of the 20th century; the Estado Novo; opposition to the dictatorship; the Colonial War and the MFA; the military coup d'état; the Revolution; decolonization and independence; the PREC; democracy; and activism.
These thematic topics make up a thematic and chronological sequence of an informative and evocative nature. At the same time, they are accompanied by very varied and suggestive illustrations, making the display of these panels more attractive.
The scientific coordination of this exhibition belongs to the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Coimbra (CEIS20 | UC), with the support of several national entities, such as the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the National Arts Plan (PNA).
Along with other initiatives, this exhibition is part of the national program of the April 25 Commemorations. Above all, it is a complementary way of evoking this pivotal moment in democratic Portugal, with informative, educational and civic functions.
In an act of cooperation between institutions, this traveling exhibition was loaned by the Cávado CIM and the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library to the Catholic University (Braga), to be seen by the academic community over the coming weeks, in the spirit of the current national commemorations of the 1974 Revolution.
