Bio

Alexandra Esteves is an assistant professor with a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Minho. In recent years, her research has focussed on issues relating to Social History, namely health, illness, care, marginalisation, violence and prisons, as well as the History of Tourism, including issues relating to leisure and sociability between the 18th and 20th centuries.

She is the author, co-author and coordinator of several works and book chapters, as well as dozens of scientific articles published in various countries. The results of her research have been presented at national and international congresses and published in books and specialised journals. He has supervised master's and doctoral theses in the areas of History, History of Nursing and Religion Studies. He takes part in various national and international scientific projects.

Research in the field of contemporary history, with particular emphasis on social history, especially issues related to health, illness, marginalisation, violence and prisons, as well as the history of tourism, leisure and sociability between the 19th and 20th centuries.
