Inés Lozano-Palacio (PhD) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Linguistics at Universitat Politècnica de Valencia in Spain, where she teaches and researches on cognition and language. Her research interests include Cognitive Linguistics, inferential  pragmatics, and literary theory applied to figurative language. Her most recent work explores irony from the perspective of cognitive modeling. Inés Lozano’s research has been featured internationally in high-impact journals and book series such as Metaphor and Symbol (Taylor and Francis), Cognitive Semantics (Brill),  Review of Cognitive Linguistics (John Benjamins) or the Figurative Thought and Language Series (John Benjamins). Her book co-authored with Prof. Francisco Ruiz de Mendoza, Modeling irony, has been published by John Benjamins in 2022. Inés Lozano has delivered over 30 conference talks internationally and has been an invited speaker in a number of higher-education institutions, such as the University of California, Berkeley (USA), the University of Arizona (USA), Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (Hungary), the Beijing Language and Culture University (China), and the State University of Petrozavodsk (Russia). She has been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), the University of Helsinki (Finland), the LATTICE lab in Paris (France), and the University of Genoa (Italy). She is part of various national and internationally funded research projects and currently serves as the associate editor of the MetBib Project and an assistant editor of the Review of Cognitive Linguistics (both edited by John Benjamins). She is also a committed science communicator, a photographer, and writes and directs film and theatre.
