- Know the classical tradition of the great Mythic Cycles (of Troy, Thebes) and Heroic Cycles (of Theseus and the Argonauts) that underlie the poetic production of Tragedy
- Know some of the Roman rewritings of Greek tragedy, particularly in the area of the feminine
- Understand the importance of the tragic themes in later cultures and literatures, namely the prominence of tragic thought after the French Revolution
- Verify how the Greco-Latin heritage had repercussions in the Portuguese literature, enriching the expression of contemporary humanity.
