The orientation week for higher education kicks off with a packed schedule of campus tours, alumni reunions, and Q&A sessions about the programs
The Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) – Braga is launching today, September 14, a three-day orientation and integration program for new college students.
The initiative, which runs through next Wednesday, September 16, was designed to help newcomers feel at home in the academic community and familiarize them with the institution, its programs, the faculty, and their peers, as well as the various opportunities available throughout their college experience.
The first day of activities begins with check-in and the distribution of welcome kits, followed by the “Welcome Dreamers” opening ceremony, which will feature remarks by the vice-rector of the Braga Campus, as well as the deans of the School of Philosophy and Social Sciences and the School of Theology.
The morning program includes a musical performance by Líricas—UCP’s women’s student band from Braga—and the presentation “The UCP Experience.” Before the luncheon that wraps up the day, students take part in a scavenger hunt designed to explore the different spaces and dynamics of university life.
Tomorrow, September 15, the program is dedicated to institutional identity under the theme “A Legacy to Discover… a Dream to Fulfill,” inviting new students to engage with the university’s history and values.
The morning continues with the session “Alumni Voices—They’ve Been Where You Are Now!”, in which alumni share their professional and personal journeys, and with the presentation of student associations and groups in the “Come Meet Your Tribe” area. The day also includes a social brunch for participants.
The orientation concludes on Wednesday, September 16, with a focus on direct interaction with the structure of each degree program.
In the session “Come Meet Your Program, Faculty, and Classmates,” students will meet with department heads from the fields of Communication Sciences, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, and Applied Management. After a coffee break, the “Enrich Your Experience at UCP” initiative will present the interdisciplinary and volunteer projects that complement academic training, namely Transform4Europe, Cuidar*te, Voluntaria*te, Sê+, CAB, ELO, and the Protection and Care Plan.
