  1. To understand, in terms of their origins and current implications, the fundamental concepts developed by Western philosophy regarding the human being.
  2. To contribute to an awareness of culture as the specific environment of the human person.
  3. To become aware of one’s own culture in order to take ownership of it and engage in intercultural dialogue.
  4. To provide students with a better understanding of themselves and others through an analysis of the various dimensions of human existence.
  5. To promote the discovery and articulation of meaning in one’s own existence.
