- Gain a conceptual understanding of theoretical models in the field of disability studies;
- Develop the ability to analyze and critically evaluate the evolution of international, European, and national public policies on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the areas of aging, social services, mental health, accessibility, employment, and vocational training;
- Identify the main challenges faced by people with disabilities in exercising their human and citizenship rights;
- Identify the main challenges faced by people with disabilities in exercising their human and civil rights;
- Understand the model of independent living and reflect on its application in the Portuguese context;
- Encourage students to develop practices that promote the overcoming of prejudice, the prevention of stigma and social discrimination, equal opportunity, autonomy, and social inclusion for people with disabilities.
