Biblioteca de Clássicos da Filosofia

Program Description

The Graduate Program in “Library of Philosophical Classics” is a course developed under a memorandum of understanding signed between FFCS and DST-GROUP.

A sense of ethical, social, environmental, aesthetic, and planetary responsibility, along with the desire to contribute to building a more sustainable, livable, and happy world, are some of the factors that led to the decision made by DST-GROUP and the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences when they joined forces to provide quality training for the employees of this Braga-based company.

The need for innovation, the challenges of the business world in which this company operates, and, especially, its professional staff increasingly demand the acquisition and development of a broad, well-founded, and critical perspective on the surrounding culture, values, trends, and orientations that affect the organizations, communities, and individuals that make up their interconnected world.

The graduate program also aligns with one of FFCS’s strategic objectives, which is to establish partnerships with local and regional entities, thereby fostering knowledge exchange, staff development, and the academic and sociocultural training of professionals in various fields.

The teaching of this program, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of DST-GROUP trainees, will be carried out exclusively by the faculty of the Philosophy Department at FFCS-Católica, with logistical and technical support from DST-GROUP.

In addition to the classroom component, to enrich participants’ understanding of the decisive importance of Philosophy in the debate on issues currently of concern to society, a series of conferences featuring prestigious national and international philosophers is also planned. In short, this graduate program offers specialized training that combines theoretical knowledge of essential authors and works in Western philosophy with their critical assimilation and the practical writing of essays that reflect the impact of this learning on students’ personal, social, and professional lives in a completely innovative way.
