Rui Alexandre Novais (Ph.D. in Communication and Image Studies at University of Kent-UK) is a Researcher and Invited Auxiliary Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa/Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH) and previously lectured at the Universities of Porto and Liverpool.
His interests lie in the broader fields of communication and journalism, and amongst over 50 scientific works he has recently published on the reporting of populism (in press), journalism safety (forthcoming), disinformation in political campaigning (Southern Communication Journal) the media coverage of election campaigns (Observatório/OBS*), social media and activism (Igi Global), the press independence and autonomy (Pauta Geral), digital political campaigning (Igi Global) and diachronic analysis of the Portuguese journalism (Brazilian Journalism Research).
He is currently the Principal investigator of the research project Mapping risk and uncertainty for journalism: An intercontinental study (FCT funding) and the coordinator for Portugal and Cabo Verde of the Project Worlds of Journalism.
