Pedro McDade did his PhD in Philosophy (2020) at the Univ. Warwick (U.K.), with a thesis entitled “Reciprocity and its Role in Economic Cooperation” (pass, no corrections).

He also holds a MSc in Philosophy of the Social Sciences (2013) from the LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science).

Moreover, his academic education includes:

- Bachelor in Economics (1997) at Univ. Porto.

- Certificate in Philosophy (2005) at Univ. Católica Portuguesa (Braga).

- Bachelor in Sacred Theology/ S.T.B. (2010)—or Master of Divinity/ M.Div.—at Comillas Pontifical Univ. (Madrid).

 - Licentiate in Sacred Theology/ S.T.L. (2012), specialization on Economic and Social Ethics, at Boston College.

He is a researcher at the Centro de Estudos Filosóficos e Humanísticos (CEFH) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Braga).

Research interests: philosophy of the social sciences; philosophy of economics; ethics and economics; reciprocity; the plurality of motivations of economic agents; behavioural economics; applied ethics; political philosophy.

In 2014, he edited the special issue of the journal Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia on “The Economy of Communion”. From 2013-17 he was a referee for the same journal.

He is a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) since 2001. He was ordained a priest in 2011.
