Cândido Oliveira Martins, a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Braga, participated on June 12 in the presentation of the new edition of the book “Você está Aqui” by poet João Luís Barreto Guimarães, at a session held in the auditorium of the Almeida Garrett Library, at the Palácio de Cristal in Porto.

Thirteen years after its first edition, the work returns to bookstores in a version reissued by Quetzal, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary concerns. Throughout the poems, the author explores themes such as time, the fragility of the human condition, and the search for meaning in everyday life, using language marked by irony and a keen observation of reality.

During the session, Cândido Oliveira Martins spoke with João Luís Barreto Guimarães to encourage reflection on the main themes of the work and its place in the landscape of contemporary Portuguese poetry. The event also featured the participation of Rui Moreira, former mayor of Porto.

The presence of the professor from Católica Braga reinforces the institution’s role in fostering dialogue between academia and contemporary literary creation, thereby contributing to the dissemination and appreciation of Portuguese literature among diverse audiences.
