The Final International Conference of the European InterMu-Se project was successfully held on April 21 and 22, 2026, at the Portuguese Catholic University in Braga, Portugal. The event brought together 177 participants, including experts, academics, religious leaders, educators, and representatives of civil society, for two days of dialogue, sharing, and reflection on intercultural and interreligious cooperation.

As the project’s closing event, the conference served to present its main results, activities, and lessons learned, reinforcing the importance of dialogue in combating discrimination and intolerance, particularly on the basis of religion and ethnic origin. The InterMu-Se project aims to address stereotypes and prejudices against Jews and Muslims by promoting trust, understanding, and mutual respect among Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities.

Over the course of the two days, key topics were addressed, including interreligious dialogue in the 21st century, the challenges and best practices of intercultural cooperation, capacity building for religious leaders and civil society organizations, religious freedom, and coexistence in societies marked by polarization. The agenda featured 15 speakers across three main panels, as well as sessions led by the project’s partner organizations.

The conference also highlighted the role of education, local engagement, and cooperation across different sectors in promoting more inclusive, cohesive societies that respect diversity. As the InterMu-Se partnership emphasized, dialogue, education, and cooperation remain essential tools for combating prejudice and strengthening coexistence among diverse communities.
