Professors Filomena Ponte, Ph.D., and Eduardo Duque, Ph.D., from the Portuguese Catholic University – Braga, will participate in the 4th International Seminar on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Older Adults, which will take place on June 26, in Ceará, Brazil, as part of the “Violet June” initiatives, an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the prevention of violence against older adults.
The two professors will be part of the international panel “Collaborative Housing and Social Justice,” dedicated to exploring housing and care models that promote dignified, active, and socially inclusive aging.
Prof. Filomena Ponte, Ph.D., will present the paper “Collaborative Housing (Cohousing): Living and Aging Sustainably,” in which she will discuss the potential of collaborative housing models to promote autonomy, community participation, and quality of life among older adults.
In turn, Prof. Eduardo Duque will present the paper “Housing, Aging, and Social Justice: Between ‘Aging in Place’ and Alternative Care Models,” with the aim of fostering reflection on the challenges and opportunities presented by different housing and care responses for the elderly population.
The seminar will bring together researchers, policymakers, and representatives of civil society from various countries to discuss the protection of older adults’ rights, with the goal of promoting the sharing of knowledge and best practices in areas such as housing, social inclusion, public policy, and the prevention of violence.
