Renovar*te _ estreito

The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) at the Catholic University will host, on May 20 at 2:30 p.m., in Room 1.2, a roundtable discussion on the theme “Universities as a Testimony of Hope”, as part of the initiatives of the Renovar*te project, dedicated to raising awareness among faculty members about pedagogical innovation inspired by Ignatian Pedagogy.

Building on the reflections offered by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Arturo Sosa, in his address “The Jesuit University: Witness to Hope, Creative and Dialogical Presence,” this initiative aims to foster a space for interdisciplinary dialogue on the role of Jesuit universities in the 21st century, in a context marked by uncertainty, complexity, and profound social, ecological, and digital challenges.

The session will seek to explore the university’s identity as an inspiring vision and a criterion for strategic decision-making, to reflect on priorities and courses of action in the face of the ecological crisis, technological challenges, and growing social polarization, and to identify concrete paths for institutional transformation that remain faithful to the Ignatian tradition and attentive to the signs of the times.

The roundtable discussion will feature presentations by Bruno Nobre, Director of FFCS; Ana Paula Pinto, a faculty member at FFCS; José Vale Machado, an architect and former student at the Catholic University of Braga; and José Silva, President of AAAFFCS. Artur Galvão, a faculty member at FFCS, will moderate the discussion.

Following the opening remarks by the guest speakers, there will be a period of open discussion, in which all attendees are invited to participate, with the aim of fostering an atmosphere of listening, reflection, and sharing.

Participation is free, but registration is required.
